Introduction
Humanities is an international, scholarly, peer-reviewed, open access journal for scholarly papers published quarterly online.
The Journal was founded in year 2012, with Prof. Dr. Albrecht Classen as our Founding Editor-in-Chief. In nine years of development, we have set up 8 sections and have an editorial board of 77 high profile scholars. Recently, the journal has been indexed within ESCI (Web of Science), ERIH Plus, and many other databases.
Aims
The central concern of this journal pertains to the core values of the Humanities, i.e., focusing on the ideals of human existence, seen through many different lenses. What makes life valuable, livable, meaningful? How can we understand human existence in its historical, artistic, spiritual, linguistic, communicative, environmental, political, and social dimensions? Both historical and modern perspectives are welcome, as well as interdisciplinary approaches.
Our aim is to encourage researchers to publish their innovative ideas and results in as much detail as possible, therefore, there is no restriction on the length of the papers. Humanities aims to provide a rapid refereeing and editorial processes, following standard publication practices.
Humanities Open Access is a research journal and solicits papers that meet the highest level of scholarship. Hence our intensive peer-reviewing process. This entails that each paper must critically engage with the relevant, and most recent secondary literature on the topic addressed. Humanities is not a journal that publishes opinion pieces, essays, creative writing, or similar types of texts, as valuable as those genres might be. We do not pursue any political or religious perspective and aim for complete objectivity. It is expected that the authors have made their best efforts to reflect on all the relevant research, published in whatever language, and thus to be at the top of the state of art in their field, both in theoretical and practical terms.
We encourage the authors to submit full research articles as well as editorial comments to Humanities Open Access.
