CALL FOR PAPERS

The Second Heterotopic Junction Graduate Conference on Language, Literature, and Culture (HJC-2) is now calling for abstracts. HJC-2 is an international conference which aims to provide graduate students with an opportunity to showcase their research in the areas of linguistics, literature, and culture.

The conference is scheduled to be held on 30 April 2022 (Saturday) at Hong Kong Baptist University. It will be conducted in mixed mode thereby welcoming attendees and presenters both virtually and in person.

Each applicant is allowed to submit at most one single-authored and one co-authored abstract to heterotopicjunction@gmail.com by 15 December 2021

Abstracts must be written in English, with a maximum limit of 500 words including references. The applicant’s name, institutional affiliation, and contact information should be placed after the abstract’s title. All abstracts must be submitted in WORD or PDF, with the applicant’s last name and first name initials in the file name and prefixed by HJC2-. For example, if your last name is Lee and your first name is Tai Man, then your file name would be HJC2-LEETM.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the organizing committee and successful applicants will be notified by early January 2022.

Presentations should last for no more than 20 minutes and will be followed by a 10-minute Q & A. All presentations are to be delivered in English. At the end of the conference, one paper will be selected to receive The Best Paper Award.

Registration fees are waived for HJC-2 thanks to the joint sponsorship of the Master of Arts in Literary and Comparative Studies (MALCS) and Master of Arts in Language Studies (MALS) programmes in the Department of English Language and Literature at Hong Kong Baptist University.
