PCA 2022 National Conference, PCA Annual Conference
April 13-16, 2022 (Virtual Conference)/Popular Culture Association (PCA)
The focus of this special topics area is to critically examine the definitions and development of Black Popular Culturefrom the early beginning of minstrelsy performances to the images and people we come in contact with on a daily basis—especially those images that are reflected in American media. Paper/panel presentations will draw upon theories and concepts in media studies, cultural studies, and discussions pertaining to the construct of Black popular cultural texts within (but not limited to) television programming, Black Comics, content produced for digital distribution (e.g., Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and YouTube), Films, Black Exploitation films, literature, music, poetry (spoken word), and fashion (style).
All paper topics will be considered. Please submit an abstract online of no more than 250 words to: http:/www.pcaaca.org

All presenters must be current, paid members of the PCA and registered for the conference. Non-presenters who attend the full conference must also pay membership fees.
To attend the National Conference, members must pay the membership fee and the registration fee. The last day for all refunds is February 10, 2022. No refund requests will be honored after this date. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
