PAMLA Veterans Studies Special Session
Call for Papers - PAMLA Veterans Studies Panel
Veterans Studies is a growing field of research that addresses the significant impact of military personnel transitioning from active duty to civilian life. This special panel session invites papers that explore any aspect of military service in literature, including those that reflect the conference theme of “Geographies of the Fantastic and Quotidian.” Military bases are located in a myriad of geographies and the activities range from fantastic to quotidian on a daily basis. This session invites papers that explore the many facets of military experience exhibited in literature, theater, film, and poetry written about or by military veterans. Veterans are strongly urged to participate. Proposals are due by May 15, 2022. You can submit your proposal here: https://lnkd.in/gzuztw4N
PAMLA 2022 will be held in Los Angeles, California at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center and Hotel between Friday, November 11 and Sunday, November 13, 2022. This opportunity is especially relevant because the session occurs during the Veterans Day national holiday in a region that proudly houses Los Angeles Air Force Base, Joint Force Training Base Los Alamitos, Fort MacArthur, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, US Coast Guard Base Los Angeles, and multiple Army National Guard units.
