Graduate Student Teaching Demonstration Sessions

The Graduate Student and Pedagogy Subcommittees of the ATHE Professional Development Committee invites submissions for a Graduate Student Teaching Demonstration Sessions at ATHE 2022. In these sessions, graduate students will have an opportunity to demonstrate an example of their teaching, so that they can receive feedback on their pedagogical skills and areas for improvement from our faculty panelists. These respondents will be chosen based on the focus of the graduate students’ teaching demonstrations. Audience members can also learn tips and tricks for teaching by watching the demos and participating in the feedback portion.

The sessions can incorporate academic content: lectures and strategies geared towards teaching theatre history, literature, criticism, dramaturgy, etc and can also center on more performance content: lessons and workshops geared towards teaching acting, directing, movement, design, etc.

Please submit a 200-250 word abstract of the lesson you plan to teach with citations for any borrowed work, along with a brief bio. If you are interested in participating in the practical skills panel, send your information (name, contact information, reason for interest) to panel co-chair Elizabeth Schiffler eschiffler@ucla.edu by April 10th.
