CURATING AND RESISTING AMERICANA
We invite you to join us in building a creative, interdisciplinary, and accessible symposium that considers the challenges of engaging the public and the role of resistance within the cultural spaces curating Americana. This two-day event will take place on the 19th and 20th of May. Hosted online by the University of Kent, UK.
Please submit a 250-word proposal, with title and 50-word biography for a presentation, panel or workshop to email@example.com by April 17th, 2022.
We welcome proposals from Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers from across the social sciences and arts. To build this varied programme, we are looking for proposals for 20-minute presentations; 1-hour creative, practice-based workshops; and group proposals for 1-hour panel discussions. Your proposal should consider the topics of heritage, intervention, public engagement, or misrepresentation within the Americas.
Our Thursday keynote panel invites two Shinnecock educators to discuss the challenges of interpreting their history to local and international audiences. As a celebration of Early Career Researchers, this symposium is finished by keynote speaker Sabrina Mittermeier.
Taking place over two days, this symposium is designed to be accessible for international speakers - but please note where you are located (so we know your timezone) in your application. Our Thursday programme will take place online, with Friday run as a hybrid event.
We look forward to your application,
