Postcolonial Studies Association Newsletter #28
Call for Contributions and Book Reviewers for PSA Newsletter #28: Loving the Stranger
News headlines in the EU and US abound with concerns about migration and the risks that go along with dangerous land and sea crossings. As government officials seek solutions, others seek to reach out, enacting the Greek word “philoxenos” meaning “loving the stranger.” The next issue of the PSA Newsletter will focus on migrancy, particularly the ways that communities reach out to establish space and place for newcomers. We welcome contributions addressing what it means to “love the stranger” in these uncertain times, perhaps through a lens of culinary diplomacy, of geographical considerations of space, place, and time as well as through literary explorations of the migrant experience, among many other possibilities. Contributions should be between 700 and 1,200 words and should be fully referenced using Harvard Referencing Style.
Reports on recent events or conferences in the field of postcolonial studies are also welcome.
The deadline for submissions is 25th April 2022. Please submit your contribution via email to the PSA Newsletter editorial team: Francesca Mussi firstname.lastname@example.org, Jennifer Grayjgray@tntech.edu, and Priyanka Tripathi email@example.com
We are also still looking for the following book to be reviewed:
- Gray, Jennifer. Culinary Diplomacy’s Role in the Immigrant Experience: Fiction and Memoirs of Middle Eastern Women. Culinary Diplomacy’s Role in the Immigrant Experience: Fiction and Memoirs of Middle Eastern Women - 9781793627339 (rowman.com)
as well as any other recent books in the field of postcolonial studies, especially migrancy studies for this issue.
Reviews should be between 500 and 1,000 words, should be fully referenced using the MLA Referencing Style, and should be submitted via email to the PSA Newsletter editorial team: Francesca Mussi firstname.lastname@example.org, Jennifer Grayjgray@tntech.edu, and Priyanka Tripathi email@example.com by 25th April 2022.
