It is our pleasure to invite you to submit a chapter for inclusion in a new edited volume titled: Educational or Sensational? Finding the Line between Reality TV and Documentary by Lexington Books. Chapter topics must be focused on reality show or documentary programming. We invite approaches that are qualitative, interpretive, critical, and cultural in examining the line between reality show programming and documentary work. Abstracts of 250-300 words are due March 31, 2022 May 31, 2022 with the full chapter due July 29, 2022 August 15, 2022. The submitted chapter should be 6,000-8,000 words in length, not including references and index.
Topics could include, but are not limited to:

Case studies of specific TV series, mini-series, or films (e.g., Keeping up with the Kardashians, Sister Wives, Blackfish, Planet Earth, etc.)

Docufiction such as aired on Animal Planet and Discovery Channel

Competition shows (e.g. The Great British Bake-Off, Nailed It, Survivor, Amazing Race, etc.)

True crime shows (Unsolved Mysteries, The Ted Bundy Tapes, etc.)

Programming trends on streaming services, cable, and/or terrestrial broadcast channels as they relate to the topic

Documentary podcasts and radio programs (e.g., Serial)
