Vol. VIII, Issue 2 (June 2023)
Abstracts for session C will reflect any theme related to Peninsular Literature and/or Culture from 1700 to the present. This session will explore a wide range of topics from different periods. Session C is part of a quadruple session with a maximum of three presenters per session, with presentations not to exceed 20 minutes. Presenters must be SAMLA members to attend and may read only one paper at the convention. Interested participants may send a 250-word abstract in Spanish or English, a short academic bio (approximately 100 words), and contact information via email in a single Word document at their earliest convenience. The individual body performatively constitutes its gender, experiences desire for other (individual) bodies, undergoes significant changes, and functions as the battlefield for a range of social and political struggles. However, the collective body in groups provides an equally productive basis for the analysis and interpretation of gendered and sexual processes. The human body is never neutral, and many works of fiction give meaning to a disintegrated, disable, diseased, wounded, damaged, mutilated body through the power of language.
Seeking proposals for presentations on travel writing in English from any period or country. The 2023 RMMLA convention will be held in Denver, CO from Oct. 12-14. Please submit a 200-word abstract by April 26.
Journal of Ethnic American Literature, a refereed scholarly annual dedicated to new research and criticism in American literature and culture, seeks scholarly articles (5000 to 7000 words saved in Word) that use the MLA Style.
