Call for Papers

Vol. VIII, Issue 2 (June 2023)

From the essential violence of colonial conquest and rule to the emancipatory potentialities of anti-colonial violence argued by Fanon and others to the non-violence championed by Mahatma Gandhi –  violence has been a component of constant exploration within the domain of postcolonial studies. Countries which secured independence from colonial rule were also embroiled  in and continue to be ravaged by various forms of exclusionary violence based on considerations of class, caste, race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and much more. Whether in Kashmir or in Myanmar or in Palestine or in various African countries or in Eastern Europe – protracted violence continues wreak havoc in many shapes and forms across much of the developing world. This is also coupled by various forms of financial and cultural violence unleashed by dominant institutions and discourses associated with global capital flows. The next issue of Postcolonial Interventions seeks to focus on explorations of violence in postcolonial literature and culture across multiple platforms and media.
