Cultural History; PAMLA (October 26-29, 2023)
The 120th annual conference of the Pacific Ancient & Modern Languages Association (PAMLA) will be held in Portland at the Hilton Portland Downtown, from Thursday, October 26, to Sunday, October 29, 2023.
CULTURAL HISTORY – This panel seeks to explore the cultural, political, or social intersections that exist between text and context, including interdisciplinary aspects of culture. Papers are sought that explore the relationships between history and film, history and literature, or history and any other aesthetic tradition. Submissions that not only practice cultural history but also critically reflect upon that practice are encouraged. Specific topics related to the conference theme of “Shifting Perspectives” are encouraged but not required.
