Inviting Abstracts for a Two Day International Online Conference "Rethinking Disability across Disciplines: New Directions and Emerging Trends"
In the aftermath of the World Wars, the concept of disability gained momentum. It was observed that the individuals with disability were subjected to segregation and isolation. However, by the advent of 21st Century, this mindset transitioned from the ‘medical model’ to the ‘social model’ which elevated the positioning of the ‘disabled subject’ from the margins to the forefront. This ‘social model’ further envisaged the inclusion of various discourses such as art, literature, psychology, law, science and health.
The conference, therefore, aims at focusing on the aspects of disability from various fields ranging from Health Science. Law, Governance, Literature, Arts and allied disciplines. This multidisciplinary approach shall enable us to grasp the undercurrent of human psyche and observe each facet of the issue with microscopic precision. The conference also intends to map the trajectories of various reforms undertaken for the needs of persons with disability, to create awareness about it through the process of accessibility and inclusion, and also to provide a collaborative platform to researchers, practitioners, and professionals working on diverse aspects of disability.
We invite original abstracts from various stakeholders including lawyers, health care experts, NGOs, special educators, PhD scholars and independent scholars, and academicians who are interested to contribute. We will be glad to showcase works by artists (painters, singers, storytellers, Youtubers) that generate awareness and will enlighten the theme of the conference.
