SRC Annual Meeting 2023
The Southeastern Renaissance Conference (SRC) invites submissions for presentation at our 80th Annual Meeting, which will be hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on September 29th and 30th, 2023. This year’s conference will focus on “The Dynamics of Fiction” in art, history, and literature.” We will launch our annual meeting with a plenary talk delivered by Robert E. Stillman, Professor of English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Paper submissions can be on any aspect of Renaissance art, culture, history, literature, music, or philosophy. We particularly encourage essays with some relationship to this year’s topic “The Dynamics of Fiction,” which considers the discourse of visual and literary form; the dynamics of character; the intersection of art, history and narrative; and the capacity of fictions to affect cultural change.
SRC is unique in that we require full essays (2500 words). Paper submissions are automatically considered for publication in SRC’s annual journal Renaissance Papers. Published since 1954, the journal collects the best scholarly essays submitted for the SRC’s Annual Meeting. Renaissance Papers is published by Camden House, an imprint of Boydell & Brewer.
Please upload your essays to the paper submission module on our website (southeasternrenaissance.org). For consideration in the 2023 conference, papers must be submitted by July 1, 2023. Authors will receive a response by August 1, 2023. If you are interested in presenting at or attending this year's conference, please make sure your SRC membership is up to date. You can also join SRC or renew your membership through our website.
