Fashioning the Asian Century -- Attention scholars of Southeast Asian fashion!
The authors for this edited collection on Fashioning the Asian Century are mostly set, but we still need one or two essays on Southeast Asia generally, or Thailand or Vietnam specifically. We could also use another essay on a topic relating to Chinese, Japanese, or Korean fashion. Please note that we already have several inquiries relating to fashion in India.

Fashioning the Asian Century
If some historians categorize the nineteenth century as Britain’s imperial century, and the twentieth century as the American century, then the twenty-first century may well be understood as the Asian century. In terms of not only economic and demographic growth, but also cultural dissemination of genres like manga and anime, the Korean wave, and Bollywood, the global reach and soft power of Asia is undeniably accelerating. Asia is now home to the tallest buildings in the world and more than half of European luxury goods are destined for consumption in China. What does Asian ascendency mean for fashion? This volume seeks essays that address one or more aspects of this question, such as: Asian fashion designers, Asian fashion consumer behavior, fashion shows and fashion weeks in Asia, fashion trends disseminated through Asian popular culture, Asian garment worker’s’ rights, and sustainability and greenwashing in Asian fashion.
