Poetry and the Arts in Renaissance Education and Pedagogy

This panel seeks contributions studying the role of poetry, imaginative literature, the arts, and creativity in general in Renaissance treatises on pedagogy, educational curricula, teaching practices, and other types of early modern documents reflecting on education. Example of possible topics include but are not limited to:
- the place of poetry and the arts in Renaissance reflections on hierarchies of disciplines;
- the place of the humanities in Renaissance reflections on hierarchies of disciplines;
- the place of poetry in the humanities;
- poetry vs rhetoric;
- the representation of scenes of instructions or educational practices in poetry and the arts;
- poetry and the arts in the academies;
- pedagogical reflections on poetry as literary theory;
- corrupting and dangerous poetry and art;
- what Renaissance pedagogy can tell us about teaching the Renaissance today;
- the education of women and women writers;
- modern aspects of Renaissance pedagogy;
- classical poetry vs vernacular poetry in Renaissance pedagogy;
- foreign languages and foreign poetry in Renaissance educational curricula;
- the Bible as literature in Renaissance pedagogy.
