The virtual workshop “Air Pollution, Plastics, and Global Health” organized as part of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) project “Air and Environmental Health in the (Post-)COVID-19 World,” invites abstract submissions for consideration. The two-day online event will take place on November 28-29, 2023.
This workshop welcomes submissions from early career researchers working at the intersection of plastic pollution and air pollution to explore the complex relationship between these two pressing environmental concerns. We encourage participants to engage with the concept of aerial health and identify different ways in which plastics contribute to air pollution. This includes, but is not limited to, air pollution from the production of plastics, microplastics in the air, and emissions from plastic waste incineration. The workshop also analyzes air pollution through the lens of environmental justice.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- History of Pollution
- Air Pollution, Health, and Exposure
- Airborne Microplastics and Health
- Plastic Waste Incineration
- Toxicity and Toxic Ecologies
- Environmental Justice
“Air Pollution, Plastics, and Global Health” is designed for graduate students and early career researchers at any stage of their PhD. It offers a unique opportunity for early career researchers to discuss their ongoing research projects. The workshop will include presentations of research projects, followed by discussions.
To participate in the workshop, please submit an abstract of 300 words along with a short biographical statement. Please include your name, affiliation, and the current stage of your project. Submissions should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by September 15, 2023.
If you have questions or concerns regarding the workshop or the submission of abstract proposals, please do not hesitate to contact us.
This research was funded in whole, or in part, by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) [P 34790].
