FORMAT: Roundtable. Participants give brief, informal presentations followed by an open conversation and debate.  

DESCRIPTION: The roundtable welcomes proposals on any language courses (culture, history, literature) that include digital practices, initiatives, resources, and tools as part of the teaching approach and/or method of assessment. Reflections on the application of Digital Humanities to second language acquisition are welcome. Papers are in English.

ABSTRACT: Despite the proliferation of literature dedicated to the interdisciplinary nature of Digital Humanities, the resources to explore their inclusion and applications in second language acquisition are still scattered and rather limited. The objective of this roundtable is to showcase and discuss best practices to include, organize, and create digital humanities initiatives (broadly defined) in the context of language and culture courses at all levels. What happens when we ask students to engage with digital and humanities practices? How do we prepare them to deploy digital tools? How do you include and design digital initiatives (wikis, blogs, video and image tagging, social networking, mapping, or annotating texts) specific for language and culture courses? How do the principles and methods of digital humanities intersect and/or enhance second language acquisition?
