We are delighted to announce the Call for Chapters on Dalit Life Narratives: The Context, Text and Praxis a timely and significant initiative that seeks to explore and highlight the contemporary relevance of Dalit experiences. This compilation aims to shed light on the lived realities, struggles, triumphs, and aspirations of the Dalit community through the medium of life narratives.

Dalit life narratives are a rich and varied body of literature that offers insights into the experiences of caste oppression and discrimination. These narratives can be read as texts of resistance as they challenge the dominant caste ideology and offer alternative visions of society. They can also be read as texts of contemporary relevance as they speak to the ongoing struggle for social justice in India. This call for chapters invites submissions that explore the themes of Dalit life narratives and its context, understanding and interpretation in the eyes of contemporary relevance. We are particularly interested in submissions that address the following areas:

      The Politics of Dalit Literature

      The Intersections of Caste, Gender, and Class in Dalit Life Narratives

      The Role of Dalit Literature in the Struggle for Social Justice

      Oral Histories and the Preservation of Dalit Narratives.

      Gender Dynamics and Dalit Women’s Narratives.

      Dalit Diaspora and Transnational Narratives.

      Dalit Perspectives on Spirituality, Religion and Cultural Practices.

      Narratives of Dalit Women, LGBTQ+ Individuals, and Other Marginalized Voices within the Community

      Resistance, Agency, and Empowerment in The Face of Systemic Oppression.

      Dalit Experiences of Education, Employment and Social Mobility.

      Dalit Art, Literature and Cultural Expressions as a Means of Reclaiming Agency.

      Political Movements Social Activism and Grassroots Initiatives for Social Justice.

      The Role of Technology and Digital Platforms in Amplifying Dalit Voices and Narratives.

      Dalit Literature and the Phenomenology of Oppression

      Contemporary Dalit literature and its Themes.

Submission Guidelines:

Interested contributors are invited to submit abstracts of their proposed chapters (300-500 words) along with a brief bio-note by 25.09.2023 to dalitlifenarratives@gmail.com. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and relevance of the chapters. Accepted contributors will be notified by 30.09.2023 and will be requested to submit their full chapters (3,000-5,000 words) by 31.12.2023.

The proposed anthology will be published by a reputed publisher. We are committed to publishing our book chapters with reputable publishers such as Emerald/Atlantic Publishers.
