Critical Ramblings
Institute of Language Studies and Research (ILSR), an institute under the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, functions as a nodal centre for research, documentation of language and culture-related materials, translation studies, and training in critical thinking, cultural and linguistic interaction.
We are thrilled to announce that the Institute of Language Studies and Research (ILSR) Kolkata, is going to launch its own bilingual journal by the end of this year. For the inaugural edition, we cordially invite you to submit your initial proposal. We welcome researchers, and Faculty members from their respective fields to contribute in this inaugural issue of the journal on the theme of “Critical Ramblings”. Look for a seminal work/book in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences that had a path breaking impact on that field of study. Contributors can think of a pioneering book that acted as a trend setter in the domain of literary and cultural studies, linguistic studies, critical theory, history of society and performance studies, etc. A substantial contribution that identifies such book/work as mentioned and deploys a close and contemporary critical-hermeneutical approach in revisiting that book/work is welcome. You are required to submit an abstract of not more than 300 words by 30th October 2023. The Selection of abstracts will be declared by 10th November, 2023.
Abstracts for potential contribution on a seminal work are especially invited for the following areas of research –

• Translation studies
• Intellectual History, Life Writing
Areas of research are limited to South Asian Studies only

Deadline for the Submission of Abstracts – 30th October 2023 Intimation of Accepted abstracts – 10th November 2023 Deadline for the Full paper Submission – 30th November 2023
Guidelines for Abstract and paper submission:
We invite abstracts (max 300 words) in English or Bengali along with a biographical note (max 100 words). Abstracts should be sent via e-mail ONLY to ilsrjournal@gmail.com. Full length papers (of abstracts that are accepted) should be between 3000-4000 words. Selected academic papers will be published in the special inaugural journal issue of ILSR.
