The Postwar Area Literature Group invites submissions on the following postwar and contemporary topics for the 2024 American Literature Association Conference, which will be held in Chicago, IL from May 23-26, 2024 (information on the annual conference can be found at the American Literature Association website). The Postwar Literature Group has three guaranteed panels this year, two in postwar studies and one in contemporary studies. Please review our calls for papers below, and email nicoledib@suu.edu with any questions.

Postwar Gothics:  Gothic traditions redefined in the post-WWII era, the cold war/atomic gothic, the suburban gothic; live burial/entrapment; haunted houses; darkness or silence; ineffable monstrosity; the final girl/girl in white in post-WWII fiction, drama, poetry, and nonfiction.  Abstracts to nicoledib@suu.edu by January 15, 2024.

Postwar Regionalisms:  Regionalism redefined in the post-WWII era; regionalism as “home” and the home of genre literatures (comic, gothic, etc.); geographies of the heartland and hinterland, regional technologies and transportation methods in post-WWII fiction, drama, poetry, and nonfiction.  Abstracts to nicoledib@suu.edu by January 15, 2024.

Contemporary Gothics:  Gothic traditions redefined in the contemporary era, the millennial gothic, the AI gothic; live burial/entrapment; haunted houses; darkness or silence; ineffable monstrosity; the final girl/girl in white in contemporary fiction, drama, poetry, and nonfiction.  Abstracts to jzuba@desu.edu by January 15, 2024.
