Call for Participants
The Department of Comparative Indian Language and Literature at the University of Calcutta, in collaboration with RUSA 2.0, is pleased to announce a five-day national-level translation training programme scheduled to take place from December 19th to December 23rd, 2023. This comprehensive programme will be hosted at the Asutosh Shiksha Prangan (College Street Campus) of the University of Calcutta. The primary objective of this training programme is to provide the participants with the knowledge of the discipline of Translation Studies (an academic discipline that encompasses the study of translation and interpretation).Hopefully, the participants, including faculty members, research scholars, students, practising translators, and aspiring translators, will gain a strong foundation in translation theories and practical applications. Furthermore, this programme also aims to prepare and equip the participants with the new-age advancement in this field, i.e. machine translation and its usability in the time of Artificial Intelligence. Through the exploration of concepts like Literary Translation, Audio-Visual Translation, Legal Translation, Commercial Translation etc, this programme seeks to create a community of future translators who will undoubtedly have a positive influence on the constantly evolving multilingual societies that surround us.
Who can attend: Teachers, Research Scholars, Graduate Students from any discipline.

Registration Fee: There is no registration fee for attending the training programme.
Last date of Application: 25th November, 2023, 11:59 P.M. (IST) Selected candidates will be informed by 30th November, 2023.
Entitlement: Seminar Kit, working lunch, tea and snacks will be provided to the participants for all five days. Certificates will be issued to the participants after successful completion of the course including Two Assignments to be completed within the duration of the training programme. No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided.
