The Journal of Critical Race Inquiry (JCRI) accepts submissions for unthemed issues (1–2 annually) on a rolling basis, and invites scholars, activists, and artists to submit. We are currently seeking submissions for our summer 2024 issue and we reccommend submission before the end of January 2024 for consideration.
- We invite submissions advancing research and thinking on race and racialization in the Canadian and international contexts and encourage interdisciplinary approaches to critical race inquiry that extend beyond institutional walls.
- We are especially interested in analyses that the intersectionality of race with gender, sexuality, class, nationality, indigeneity, region, religion, disability, and age. We invite accounts of historical and contemporary forms of race and racialization, and of their relationships with such processes as colonization, nationalism, imperialism, and global capitalism.
- JCRI values the contributions of academic, activist, and aesthetic approaches to knowledge making, and welcomes submissions in a variety of media and from outside academic institutions.
- All submissions are subject to internal review by the Editors before being advanced to the peer review process.
- Academic submissions should be 6000-8000 words in length, submitted as Microsoft Word files via our submission portal, and adhere to submission guidelines on our website. Other submissions will be considered on a case by case basis; please contact mnedjcri@queensu.ca with any questions.
