Digital Literacy at the Intersection of Equity, Inclusion, and Technology
Our book, Digital Literacy at the Intersection of Equity, Inclusion, and Technology, aims to address a national and global need for furthering a deeper understanding of the complex relationships between equity, inclusion, and digital technologies in higher education. These issues impact students and faculty across disciplines, thus we aim to foster broader multidisciplinary conversations that will guide teacher-scholars as they navigate this rapidly evolving landscape. ObjectiveThis edited collection explores scholarship at the intersection of equity/inclusion and digital pedagogies. We aim to explore how educators can leverage technology to create more equitable learning environments (both on and offline), how they can combat inequities created and/or exacerbated by digital technologies, and how they can guide students to become more thoughtful digital citizens. This text will merge theory and practice, including theoretical chapters on equitable digital pedagogies as well as a collection of practical materials including assignments, syllabi, and course/program designs for teachers who want to leverage technology to create equitable learning environments. This collection will compile theory and research across disciplines, including but not limited to communication, rhetoric, composition, linguistics, TESOL, critical cultural studies, and education. Target AudienceWe envision this multidisciplinary book as a reference guide and a practical resource for teacher-scholars in the fields of communication, rhetoric, composition, linguistics, TESOL, critical cultural studies, education, and beyond. Recommended Topics Defining and examining digital technologies in relation to equity and inclusion The role of digital technologies in the classroom Equity within learning management systems Combating inequities created or exacerbated by digital technologies Leveraging technology to create equitable learning environments Critically examining equity and inclusion within the digital humanities Pedagogical strategies for developing digital literacy and digital citizenship Submission ProcedureResearchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before December 29, 2023, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter.
