Special Issue: Blaga the Poet and/or/vs. Blaga the Philosopher, December 2024
Submission Deadline: 1 October 2024

Lucian Blaga is probably best known as a poet. His poetry is read in schools, studied at universities, celebrated at festivals, and translated into other languages. Interestingly, he wrote and published more philosophy than poetry. He also published a sizable corpus of theatrical pieces, translations, and one novel. It has sometimes been assumed that Blaga’s philosophy surfaces in and influences his other works. Similarly, the fact that he was a poet and playwright has been assumed to explain certain characteristic ways that Blaga expresses his philosophy. However, some scholars question these assumptions. The relationship between Blaga’s poetry, his philosophy, and his other works needs to be further explored.
In this context, the upcoming issue of the East-West Cultural Passage Journal (https://sciendo.com/journal/EWCP), to be published in December 2024, will be dedicated to articles that explore the relationship between Lucian Blaga’s poetry, theater, and philosophical work.
