ASAT's 67th Annual Conference: “Harmony & Discord”
Call for Papers
ASAT's 67th Annual Conference
“Harmony & Discord”
Now Open: Submissions of abstracts for presentations and panels are now open for the 2024 ASAT conference, which will take place from November 14 - 16 on the campus of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
This year's theme is Harmony & Discord. Emerging from last year's theme of Death and Rebirth, ASAT continues to explore the fertile terrain of contrasting ideas. On a daily basis, we experience harmony's strength and beauty clashing against discord's messy notes and ugliness. The world seems to be in an endless push and pull between harmony and discord, with détente frequently undercut by tribalism and suspicion. This is true on the global stage as well within the United States. We are excited to see submissions that interpret this theme from an American Studies perspective.
ASAT encourages the submission of academic and creative proposals for panels, papers, and visual presentations that reflect a contemplative inquiry of the conference theme from an interdisciplinary perspective. Presenters should be professionals in their field, though graduate and undergraduate students are also encouraged to submit proposals endorsed by a faculty mentor. Blind abstracts should be limited to 250 words and include a separate cover sheet with a working title, your full name, school affiliation (if applicable), and contact info. Your name and/or affiliation should not appear on your abstract.
Submissions open May 20, 2024, and close September 30, 2024.
