« Traversée du Tout-Monde »: a roundtable for Maryse Condé
Maryse Condé’s œuvre has tremendously impacted our understanding of the French Caribbean and Africa, but also of postcolonial France and the Americas as a whole. In a sense, she is truly « a writer for our times, » as the title of a recent tribute in Paris suggested.
This roundtable is a tribute to her and part of the NEMLA annual convention taking place March 6-9, 2025 in Philadelphia, PA. Each participant is encouraged to discuss the impact the Guadeloupean writer has had on their scholarship, their teaching and on their understanding not only of the French Caribbean, but also of the human experience in an increasingly globalized world. All abstracts must be submitted to the NeMLA convention portal by September 30: https://cfplist.com/nemla/Home/S/21314
