"Dante and Ovid" | ICMS 2025

The Societas Ovidiana welcomes proposals for an in-person panel to be held at the International Congress on Medieval Studies (ICMS) on May 8-10, 2025.

 

This panel invites new perspectives on the relationship between Dante and Ovid.

Proposals might consider, but are not limited to the topics of:

  • New assessments in the light of recent theoretical or methodological developments
  • Thematic affiliations, such as love and desire, exile, mythography, gender, authority
  • Form, such as dreams and visions, metrical form, or other aspects of poetics
  • The visual tradition, such as manuscript illuminations or medieval art
  • Material studies, such as manuscript transmission or palaeography
  • Theories of classical reception and source study
  • The proliferating aferlives of Dante and Ovid.
