The Societas Ovidiana welcomes proposals for an in-person panel to be held at the International Congress on Medieval Studies (ICMS) on May 8-10, 2025.
This panel invites new perspectives on the relationship between Dante and Ovid.
Proposals might consider, but are not limited to the topics of:
- New assessments in the light of recent theoretical or methodological developments
- Thematic affiliations, such as love and desire, exile, mythography, gender, authority
- Form, such as dreams and visions, metrical form, or other aspects of poetics
- The visual tradition, such as manuscript illuminations or medieval art
- Material studies, such as manuscript transmission or palaeography
- Theories of classical reception and source study
- The proliferating aferlives of Dante and Ovid.
