CONCEPT NOTE
A significant portion of the nation's workforce are working mothers, who continuously balance their personal and professional lives. Numerous recent studies provide a peek into the experiences of working women generally both at work and at home. In 2020, a study by the Chicago based global management consulting firm McKinsey disclosed that working women, especially those with small children, frequently quit from their jobs. Only 16% of senior leadership positions are held by women in India, and 48% of women in the country drop out within four months of returning from maternity leave. In addition, 50% of women in the country drop out mid-career before the age of thirty due to childcare (The Credit Suisse Gender 3000: Women in Senior Management, September 2016). The objective of this volume is to present a selection of research papers/articles that address different facets of the Maternity Bill. The projected outcomes of this book will contribute to raising knowledge of more effective social support networks and better working conditions for working mothers. The study aims to determine the primary reasons and any shortcomings that impede working mothers' ability to pursue their careers, as well as the variables that support their decision to return to the workforce. The book seeks to provide a thorough analysis of the implications of the maternity bill through research articles and papers that support sensible maternity leave policies that benefit workers, families, people, and society at large. We would like to welcome full research articles/papers written in English which caters to, but not limited to the above-mentioned sub themes.
