John Dos Passos at the 2025 ALA

American Literature Association 36th Annual Conference May 21-24, 2025: Boston, MA
The John Dos Passos Society invites proposals for one or two open-topic panels at the American Literature Association conference, to be held in Boston on May 21-24, 2025.
As such, we invite proposals for papers on any aspect of Dos Passos’s life or work. For consideration, please submit a 300-word abstract and a brief bio in Word or PDF format to Aaron Shaheen at aaron-shaheen@utc.edu AND jdpsociety@gmail.com by January 1, 2025. Be sure to also note any A/V requirements.
Possible topics might include Dos Passos’s relationships to:
- The Great War
- the expatriate experience
- the politics of democracy
- sex, sexuality, and gender
- labor, the proletarian novel, and the Popular Front
- Ernest Hemingway and other luminaries of the period
- formalist experimentation
- realist, modernist, and late-modernist aesthetics
- regionalism and internationalism
- the Midwest
- teaching Dos Passos
