Call for Papers

The Department of English at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, invites submissions for the upcoming issue on Literature and the Posthuman of its journal, Research and Criticism.

The "posthuman" refers to concepts that challenge traditional views of what it means to be human. It examines how human identity, consciousness, and bodies are influenced and transformed by technology, science, and non-human elements. In literature, the posthuman theme explores how these changes impact our understanding of humanity, ethics, and existence. Creative artists often use posthuman narratives to critique contemporary society, explore future possibilities, and reflect on the relationship between humans and the environment. Posthuman literature is to be found in genres like science fiction, speculative fiction, and dystopian fiction, but it also intersects with other literary forms to challenge traditional human-centric perspectives and encourage readers to rethink what it means to be "human" in an increasingly digitalized world.

We welcome original contributions in the form of Critical Articles, and Book Reviews focusing on Literature and the Posthuman that have not been published elsewhere. All submitted papers undergo a blind peer-review process by independent reviewers, and the results will be communicated to the authors within one month.
