II Conference on Feminisms and Humour: Humour-Sofías

University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain

The University of Santiago de Compostela invites proposals of papers or posters for the Second International Conference on Feminisms and Humour: Humour-Sofías. The conference, supported by the Instituto de las Mujeres, will take place from May 14-16, 2025 in the Philosophy Department. In order to reflect collectively on humour’s feminist potential, we encourage the following topics:

- Philosophical approaches to humour

- Political Strategies of Humour: Subversion and Power

- Activisms and humour

- Women’s laughter

- Humour and culture(s)

- Semantics and pragmatics of humour

- Computational humour

- Communication, language and humour

- Media, Social Networks, Digital Discourses and Humour Reception

-Queer studies and humour

-Ideologies and humour

-Humoristic practices

-Intersectionality and humour

-Comics and comedies

To participate please send your paper proposals (title and abstract of 300 words maximum, 5 maximum bibliographic references, brief bio) before 1 February 2025 to humorsofias@gmail.com

The languages of the conference will be Galician, Spanish and English.

Participation in the conference will be free of charge and in-person.

The conference proceedings will be published in a volume with ISBN following a blind peer-review process.
