The Global South is not so much a place as it is a conceptual point of connection for precarious populations across the world. It makes a specific set of historical consequences, contemporary crises, and uncertain futures visible, bringing marginalized places and people into its analytic frame. We invite scholars, educators, and practitioners to engage critically with the 9th Annual Global Souths Conference theme “The World at a Crossroads” as a way of figuring past and present linkages across the Global South. The aim of this three-day conference will be to examine the global connections, local conditions, and transformative events that have produced the Global South and to think through the challenges and opportunities facing Global South populations today.
In connection to the theme “The World at a Crossroads,” topics for papers might include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Historical Perspectives on the Future
- Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Research
- Bridging Liberal Arts and STEM
- Cognitive Development and Learning
- Diaspora and Transnationalism
- Digital Humanities
- Environment and Sustainability
- Language, Culture, and Identity Development
- Pedagogy and Globalization
- Pop Culture Studies
- Postcolonial Studies and Decolonization
- Power, Hegemony and Resistance
- Race, Ethnicity, and Class
