DEADLINE EXTENDED - March 31st

Call for Presentations – The Solarpunk Conference 2025: Collective Care, Collective Power

Solarpunk is a growing subculture, existing across various veins of human endeavors, such as fiction, media, politics, technology, agriculture and urban planning and development. Solarpunk imagines an accessible, equitable world either without systemic barriers, or with those barriers in the process of disassembly, while championing intersectional social and climate justice. Drawing on ideas from permaculture, post- and trans-humanism, social ecology, and anarcho-socialism, while reacting against late stage capitalism, Solarpunk declares that our world is worth saving, and that saving it is possible.

The Solarpunk Conference was born out of a desire to see a space for people to come together to talk about Solarpunk and think about the future in an accessible way. We wanted to push people to think about Solarpunk more broadly, not only as art or fiction or action, but as all three. We want to see people engage with Solarpunk ideas both as visions of a better future, and as actions that they can take today.

The Solarpunk Conference is primarily intended for a broad, non-academic audience, and so while we welcome and encourage academic talks or workshops, we request that they be accessible to the non-expert or non-academic.

For our third year on Saturday June 21st, 2025, our theme is “Collective Care, Collective Power.” We encourage applicants to think about the ways in which their paper or workshop engages with that theme. As in previous years, The Solarpunk Conference is a fully remote, digital conference.

Suggested topics for a talk or workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysis or readings of Solarpunk media
  • Discussions of Solarpunk activism
  • Climate justice or social justice-oriented workshops
  • Sustainability
  • Environmentalism
  • Renewable Technology
  • Ecology and Community Based Research
  • Other related concerns!

Please submit all talk or workshop proposals no later than March 31st, 2024. You can find the Submission Form on our website (https://www.solarpunkconference.com/) or directly at the following link: https://forms.gle/oadrRrkTHcCkG1zH7
