This conference aims to examine the interface of narrativity and heritage through the lenses of memory studies. It plans to produce a platform that is dialogic with complex modes of narration and strategies of preservation apropos of heritage, identity, and how the same may be imagined and instrumentalised through material markers, affective apparatus, and discursive designs. Relevant also for the conference are the ecological and sustainable qualities of heritage and how those may be preserved, curated, and calibrated using contemporary discourses from memory studies, fiction, aesthetics, policies, and technology. Drawing on research in cultural studies, heritage studies, security and sustainability studies, science and technology studies, and neuroscience, the 5th memory studies conference organized by INMS, in association with CMS, and hosted at IIT Madras features the following plenary speakers on each of the three days

  • Professor Andrew Hoskins (University of Edinburgh)
  • Professor Alex Easton (Durham University)
  • Professor Benedikt Hjartarson (University of Iceland)
