We at Ceræ are pleased to announce that the theme for Volume 12 of the journal is Dreams, Visions, and Utopias, and we invite submissions that contemplate what is the arguably most ubiquitous and diverse literary genre of the medieval and early modern centuries.

Dreams and visions could be personal or communal. They could be of the past, present, or future. Some touched on real events or people, while others were entirely imaginary, and most were somewhere in between. They can encompass the horrors of nightmares to the bliss of salvation, or calls for political freedom and mobilisation as much as an afternoon daydreaming in the sunshine.

Dreams are multi-faceted and we hope to elicit a multiplicity of visions for both the conference and the journal. The full CFP can be found at our Volume 12 landing page.

The twelfth volume of Ceræ: An Australasian Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies invites submissions of full-length themed articles and varia (short-form articles, review essays, creative pieces, or translations). 

We also strongly encourage all conference presenters to submit finished article versions of their presentations to the Volume 12 CFP (noting that all submissions are subject to peer review).

Themed journal submissions must be received by April 30 2025. 

Non-themed articles are accepted for consideration year-round. All submissions, whether dreamy or waking, should be sent to editorcerae@gmail.com. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines and stylesheet on the Submissions page as we prefer submissions to be formatted according to our Style Guide from the outset.

Ceræ is also pleased to continue to offer a $200 AUD prize for the best postgraduate/ECR essay published in Volume 12. Further information on our annual essay prize can be found here.
