The Department of English and Cultural Studies at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, invites abstracts for its inaugural research conference Dialogica 2025: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Literature, Language, and Cultural Studies. The conference aims to foster conversations that cross disciplinary boundaries, encouraging innovative thinking and collaborative knowledge-making.
In today’s globalised and digitised society, the compartmentalisation of academic disciplines limits our ability to address complex, multifaceted challenges. Dialogica embraces the dialogic nature of meaning-making—openness, reciprocity, and the coexistence of diverse viewpoints—and positions interdisciplinarity as a vital framework for engaging with human experiences, cultural formations, and shifting epistemologies. By inviting discursive exchanges across literature, philosophy, sociology, technology, and the sciences, the conference aims to catalyse transformative research outcomes.
The conference invites paper presentations from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Media Studies, and Cultural Studies. Emphasising interdisciplinarity in the Arts and Humanities, we encourage scholarly engagements that explore intersections between various fields of knowledge such as:
- Eco-Imaginaries & the Human Condition – Energy Humanities, Blue Humanities, Rethinking Nature, Science, and Sustainability
- Digital Futures & Cultural Shifts – AI, Media, Computational Linguistics, and NLP
- Voices from the Margins – Power, Identity, and Resistance in Society
- Rewriting the Past – Oral narratives, Folklore studies, Graphic narratives, Myth-making and Revisionism
- Bodies, Minds & Narratives – Medical Humanities, Disability Studies, Childhood, Gender, Queer and Embodied Experiences
- Borders, Migrations & Belonging – Diaspora, Displacement, Memory, and Transnationalism
- Law, Ethics & Justice in Society – Human Rights, Legal Humanities, and Governance
- Culture and Artistic Intersections – Popular culture, Performance, Aesthetics, Sports and Visual Narratives
- Shaping the Future – Knowledge Systems, English Language Teaching, Research Methods and Methodologies
Presenters are encouraged to engage critically with the above topics or related themes, highlighting interdisciplinary approaches to texts, theories, contexts, and methodologies.
