Call for Papers: Symposium on "Teaching Innovation in Higher Education in U.S. Literature, History, and Culture" at the CIDICO Conference

In this new edition, which will take place online on November 17, 18, and 19, and in person on November 20 and 21, organized by the SEJ-473 Research Group of the University of Almería and the Research and Training in Psychology, Education, and Health Group, we aim to continue promoting a multidisciplinary meeting of educators. This space seeks to highlight all University Areas of Knowledge and provide an opportunity to share work related to Teaching Innovation, methodologies, and research projects.

We invite the submission of proposals for the symposium "Teaching Innovation in Higher Education in U.S. Literature, History, and Culture", to be held as part of the upcoming CIDICO Conference.

This symposium will be held in person on November 20 and 21 in Madrid, Spain.

The symposium aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform for university educators and researchers to explore, present, and discuss innovative teaching practices, methodologies, and research projects related to the fields of U.S. literature, history, and culture. We welcome contributions that address, but are not limited to:

  • Innovative approaches to teaching American literature, history, and culture in higher education

  • Digital tools and platforms enhancing student engagement and learning

  • Interdisciplinary teaching strategies

  • Curriculum development and pedagogical design

  • Assessment methods and reflective practices

  • Inclusion, diversity, and critical pedagogy in U.S. studies

  • Classroom experiences, case studies, and ongoing research projects

We encourage submissions from scholars across disciplines who are engaged in or researching teaching innovation in these subject areas.

Deadline for abstract submissions: 1 October 2025.

Abstracts (250–300 words) should be sent to the symposium coordinator, Dr. Carmen Gomez-Galisteo, UNED (Spain): cgomez@flog.uned.es
