CALL FOR PAPERS

(Vol. 1, 2025; Expected publication in November 2025)

What does our future hold for the multifaceted, diverse fields of knowledge within the scope of humanities, social sciences, and law? In a world that is increasingly turning inwards, with nations tightening borders, with genocidal impulses overriding humaneness and the protection of the vulnerable, and with older, more concretized models of identity pushing to the margins the multiplicity and porosity we have come to associate with the question of identity, can a renewed commitment to interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary modes of thinking allow for a reevaluation of knowledge itself?

As the disciplinary apparatus of a university insists on being tradition-bound, it organizes the formation of knowledge around subjects, majors, general education courses and indeed, certificates. Therefore, to make room for a more multifaceted, dynamic approach to learning and the production of knowledge, PAEDEIA invites scholarly articles in the diverse fields of humanities, social sciences, and law.

Avenues of inquiry may include, but are not limited to:

  • What new modes of thinking have emerged in the fields of literature, linguistics, TESOL to offer new approaches to the humanities?
  • How can innovative pedagogies alter our understanding of how legal framework affects lived experiences?
  • How can we design syllabi that renews students’ interest in and commitment to social sciences?
  • With the advent of AI generated modes of learning and thinking, how can humanities, social sciences, and law leverage such technological innovations to create new knowledge?
  • Can our institutions position humanities, social sciences, and law as central to the university’s learning and teaching priorities?

The journal editorial team invites submissions of fully developed papers by 15 June 2025.

Please submit your paper to the journal’s official email address: journal.shss@northsouth.edu

Statement of Policy

The editors of PAEDEIA invite submissions of article-length manuscripts (between 6,000 and 10,000 words) that are from a wide range of disciplines within the fields of humanities and social sciences. We are keen to publish essays that provoke us to think and that demonstrate engagement with new and emerging modes of scholarship within disciplines, theories, and methodologies.

PAEDEIA does not accept manuscripts under review elsewhere or that have been already published.

All articles go through a double-blind peer review process prior to publication.

  1. All submissions must be unpublished and exclusive to the journal. However, a publication as a conference presentation or in a working paper series would not be considered a prior publication. Graduate students are welcome to submit manuscripts for consideration.
  2. Submitted papers may not include use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies for the substantive text of the main manuscript.
  3. Full articles need to be within the range of 6,000 to 10,000 words (excluding footnotes and a list of references).
