This session delves into the rich and multifaceted landscape of Spanish and Portuguese literature, film, and cultural studies within the Iberian Peninsula. We invite submissions that engage with a broad spectrum of topics, particularly those that foreground the experiences of traditionally marginalized communities, including (but not limited to) the Gypsy/Romani and Afro-Hispanic populations. Areas of interest may also encompass gender studies, migration and exile, political ideologies, poverty, violence, motherhood, masculinity, memory, and the dynamics of remembrance and forgetting.

We welcome proposals both directly related to the conference theme, "Palimpsests: Memory and Oblivion," as well as those that explore other pertinent dimensions of Iberian cultural narratives.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
• Representations of Identity: How do cultural productions portray and challenge notions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class within the Iberian Peninsula?
• Historical and Contemporary Narratives: In what ways do literature, film, and other cultural forms engage with historical events and shape contemporary perspectives in Spain and Portugal?
• Marginalized Voices: What role do marginalized communities play in shaping and redefining cultural narratives within the Peninsula?
• The Power of Translation: How does translation mediate the transmission and reception of cultural narratives across linguistic and geopolitical borders?
• Truth and Representation: How do concepts of truth, misinformation, and disinformation intersect with cultural narratives in the Iberian world?
• Palimpsests: Memory and Oblivion: How have memory and oblivion shaped, distorted, and reimagined the image of the Iberian Peninsula?
