FEMSPEC announces an open call for theoretical and creative speculative texts, as well as film and television reviews.

We will consider other 2024-2025 publications and releases and will consider longer, comparative reviews of important fantasy, sci-fi, and horror films released since 2020; please inquire.

Please make selections (first-come/first-served) by June 1st and email title with query and C.V. to Merry Byrd, Professor of English, mbyrd@vsu.edu, Virginia State University for confirmation.

Once approved, completed one to two page reviews should be mailed to mbyrd@vsu.edu no later than July 31st for the August issue or January 31st for the Spring 2026 issue.

All contributors must be subscribers to the journal.
