The Department of Global Korean Culture at Chungbuk National University is pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming Global K-Culture Conference, which brings together Korean language educators and Korean Studies scholars from around the world. This conference aims to foster meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas among instructors and researchers working across diverse educational and cultural settings.
We welcome presentations that investigate the transnational flows of Korean popular culture and its sociocultural, political, and economic implications: how various elements of K-Culture (K-pop, K-dramas, films, food, fashion, webtoons, beauty trends, and more) are being received, adapted, and reimagined in diverse global contexts.
Each presenter will have 15 minutes to deliver their presentation (in either Korean or English), followed by a brief Q&A session.
Suggested Topics Include (but are not limited to) the following questions:
1. What strategies have been effective in your classroom?
- Are there any unique or creative approaches you use to help students understand and enjoy learning Korean?
- What challenges have you encountered, and how have you addressed them?
- How do you measure or observe your students’ progress?
2. How is Korean culture received in your country or community?
- Which aspects of K-culture (such as K-pop, dramas, food, beauty, or traditions) are most popular locally?

3. How do you incorporate K-culture into your teaching?

- How do they help enhance language learning or cultural understanding?

- How is K-Culture being localized or hybridized?
- What identities, values, or ideologies are reinforced or challenged through its global circulation?
- How do issues such as gender, race, class, or postcoloniality emerge in the global reception of Korean culture?
5. What broader implications does the global spread of K-Culture have for Korean Studies?
