Dramatherapy in general has grown steadily and almost exponentially over the past decades, with a marked increase in applications, collaborations and research. In Europe, following the establishment of the European Federation of Dramatherapy (EFD) in 2013, a growing number of countries have established national associations and joined the federation, which today comprises eighteen member countries and features a range of working sub-committees. While the consolidation of a more visible presence of dramatherapy is being achieved, the concomitant growth of the field raises challenges and questions, which this Special Issue attempts to address.

Contributions are accepted on several topics, including:

• The development of dramatherapy in European countries: histories, definitions, training, recognition and insertion in local/national institutions;

• Multiculturalism and dramatherapy in Europe;

• Local culture and folk-traditions in dramatherapy practice and approaches in Europe;

• Dramatherapy and the arts in Europe (literature, theatre, visual arts, film, etc.);

• Colonialism and European dramatherapy;

• Research trends in European dramatherapy;

• Dramatherapy and the cycle of life in Europe;

• The use of story and text in European dramatherapy;

• Ancestral roots of dramatherapy in Europe.

 We welcome a range of contributions, including:

1. Scholarly articles: This is a peer-reviewed section, which includes research (qualitative, quantitative, art-based and mixed-methods), scoping and systematic reviews, theoretical and conceptual essays, as well as interdisciplinary contributions that are relevant to dramatherapy practice and theory. All articles will undergo a process of double-anonymous peer review.

2. Reflections from practice: This peer reviewed section encompasses any aspect emerging from clinical work, supervision, and training in dramatherapy. It includes (but is not limited to) clinical comments, short case studies, reports of innovative applications of dramatherapy in various fields and diverse cultural contexts, and reflections on methods and techniques, as well as issues arising in supervision and training.

3. Interviews: With prominent scholars and practitioners in dramatherapy and related fields.

4. Reviews: Performances, art, literature, films, etc.

5. Book reviews: Concerning dramatherapy or related fields.

6. Creative contributions: These encompass original artistic contributions that are pertinent to dramatherapy practice, such as short stories, theatrical texts, poetry, graphic expressions (photographs, video clips), etc. It also welcomes descriptions of innovative exercises and techniques, such as warm-ups, closures or other activities that can be shared with other colleagues.
