English Language Pedagogy in India: Tracing the Changing
Paradigms
Edited by Anindya Syam Choudhury and Christine Coombe
The editors of English Language Pedagogy in India: Tracing the Changing Paradigms invite interested contributors to submit chapter proposals for the edited volume which intends to try and understand how different paradigms of English language pedagogy in India evolved over time and were replaced or tweaked subsequently to address the challenges faced or take on board the shifts necessitated by societal (and pedagogical) requirements. This endeavour of tracing the changing paradigms requires a historical perspective through which we can gain a deeper understanding of the forces that drive the changes in paradigms in English language pedagogy in India. The book intends to focus on different aspects of teaching, learning, curriculum design, materials production, assessment and teacher education of English language pedagogy in India across the different levels of the educational spectrum: primary, secondary and tertiary.
The list of possible chapters may include (but may not necessarily be restricted to) the following:
- From ‘English in India’ to Indian English(es): The Journey Traversed bya Transplanted Language
- English Language Pedagogy and the National Education Policy 2020: A Critical Appraisal
