Concept Note:

Yoga is often perceived as a physical practice, but its true essence extends far beyond that. The philosophy of yoga offers a profound and holistic approach to achieving overall well-being, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual growth. This seminar invites resource persons and participants to embark on an in-depth exploration of yoga's core principles and practices, examining how they intersect to promote health, happiness, harmony, and personal transformation. The seminar aims to delve into the profound philosophy of yoga, examining its core principles and practices that guide individuals toward achieving holistic well-being. Investigate how yoga's pursuit of health, happiness, harmony, and spiritual growth can transform lives and foster a deeper connection with oneself and the world.

Sub-Themes:

The abstracts may focus on but are not restricted to the following sub-themes which are suggested below.

1. Foundational Texts of Yoga: Exploring the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Ayurveda and Vedic traditions.

2. Yoga Philosophy and Ethics: Discussing Yamas, Niyamas, and their relevance.

3. Spiritual Growth through Yoga: Understanding the path to self-realization.

4. Yoga's Cultural Significance: Exploring its roots and evolution in Indian culture.

5. Timeless Principles of Yoga: Discussing Ahimsa, Satya, and other core values.

6. Yoga and Mindfulness: Examining the role of mindfulness in ancient Indian texts.

7. The Guru-Shishya Parampara: Understanding the teacher-student tradition.

8. The Concept of Yoga according to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Aurobindo and Paramhansa Yogananda.

9. Physical and Mental Health Benefits of Yoga: Discussing stress reduction, mindfulness, and emotional balance and the impact on flexibility, strength, and overall health.

10. Yoga and Spiritual Growth: Understanding the path to self-realization and inner peace.

11. Cultural Significance of Yoga in India: Exploring its roots and evolution.

12. Yoga in Daily Life: Practical applications for stress management, relationships, and personal growth.

13. Yoga and Emotional Intelligence: Developing self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation.

14. Holistic Approach to Health: Integrating yoga with Ayurveda and other traditional practices.

15. Philosophical Explorations of Yogic Principles in Language and Literature.

Objectives of the Seminar:

- Gain a deeper understanding of yoga's philosophy and its relevance to modern life

- Explore the intersection of physical, mental, and spiritual practices in yoga

- Develop greater awareness and self-understanding through experiential exercises and reflections

- Cultivate practical skills for applying yoga's principles in daily life

Call for Papers:

Interested participants are invited to submit original and unpublished research papers or conceptual articles on the main theme or any of the sub-themes or topics related to the title of the seminar. Papers should be in Bengali, English or Hindi. We invite proposals for presentations of 10-15 minutes duration in the form of abstracts (between 150 to 300 words) with 5 key-words, accompanied by a brief CV of the presenter (max. 80 words). Online payment and Registration should be completed by 13.07.2025

Full papers of 3000 -5000 words must be submitted on the day of the seminar. Articles will be sent for blind peer review. Papers selected after a blind peer-review will be published in an edited book with ISBN.

English (Times new Roman), Bengali (Avro, Kalpurush), Hindi (Kruti Dev or Mangal Font) Size: 12pt, 1.5 spacing MS Word and PDF format in email with full name and designation. Please follow the latest APA format. The author(s) must submit an anti-plagiarism undertaking with a Plagiarism Check Report (Turnitin, iThenticate etc.)

Registration fees include a seminar kit, seminar proceedings (only for paper presenters), as well as tea and lunch for the days of the seminar.

All Participants (Faculty, Research Scholar & Paper Presenters) must pay the registration fees. Papers with more than one author need to register separately. Registration fee is non-refundable. Once the payment is made, take the screenshot of payment receipt and fill out the registration form.

No TA & DA will be provided to the outstation participants or the paper presenters by the organizer. Accommodation shall not be provided by the organizing committee.

An e-certificate for presentation will be emailed to each author/presenter after the conclusion of the seminar.
