The Translation and Interpreting Research (TIR) journal invites submissions of original research articles that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in the fields of translation and interpreting studies. As the official publication of the Research Institute for Translation Studies at Allameh Tabataba’i University, TIR provides an international, open-access platform for scholars and practitioners to share rigorous, peer-reviewed research that explores both established and emerging topics. We welcome contributions that critically engage with theoretical, methodological, and practical dimensions of translation and interpreting, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and pushing the boundaries of the discipline.

Translation and Interpreting Research (TIR) is a peer-reviewed, open access quarterly journal dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge in translation and interpreting studies. Published by the Research Institute for Translation Studies at Allameh Tabataba’i University, TIR offers a rigorous platform for original research and innovative theoretical and empirical studies. The journal employs a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the highest academic standards and encourages contributions exploring new developments, emerging trends, and critical issues in the field.
Scope and Topics:
TIR welcomes original research articles on a broad range of topics within translation and interpreting studies, including but not limited to:
- Theoretical and conceptual frameworks in translation and interpreting
- Translation pedagogy and curriculum development
- Technological advances and digital tools in translation and interpreting
- Literary translation
- Audiovisual and multimedia translation
- Machine translation and post-editing
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in translation and interpreting
- Community interpreting and sign language interpreting
- Corpus-based and empirical research in translation studies
- Ethics and professional practice in translation and interpreting
- Innovative and interdisciplinary approaches, such as eco-translation, materialism, biosemiotics, intersemiotic translation, inter-epistemic translation, and spatial translation
Submissions introducing novel methodologies, interdisciplinary perspectives, and critical reflections on evolving paradigms in the field are especially encouraged.
Manuscript Requirements:
- Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words in length, including tables, references, captions, footnotes, and endnotes.
- Manuscripts must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition.
- Manuscripts must be written and submitted exclusively in English.
Submission Guidelines:
- All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review by field experts.
- There are no submission or publication fees.
- Authors must register on the journal’s website and submit manuscripts via the online submission system.
