The Politics of Emotion: Affect, Identity and Power
Call for Articles - The Politics of Emotion: Affect, Identity and Power
IDEA – Interdisciplinary Discourses, Education and Analysis launches its new issue on the topic The Politics of Emotion: Affect, Identity and Power.
Emotions shape the way individuals and communities navigate their personal and collective lives, influencing decisions, relationships and the structures that govern societies. They are deeply embedded in social, cultural and political contexts, acting as both a personal experience and a force that drives public action.
This journal issue seeks to examine the central role of emotions in shaping identity, power relations, societal structures and practices of meaning. By exploring how emotions are experienced, expressed, channelled and manipulated, the issue aims to foster a deeper understanding of their impact on contemporary personal, social and political realities.
We invite scholars, researchers and practitioners to send their papers analysing critically the multiple ways in which emotion, identity and power can intersect. This issue will foster a multidisciplinary dialogue on how emotions are experienced, represented and mobilised across diverse social and political contexts.
We invite proposals from various disciplines including history, philosophy, sociology, political sciences, anthropology, architecture, literature, film and media studies, linguistics, etc.
Interested authors are required to submit an abstract of the proposed work with a title (max. 300 words for the abstract), a maximum of 5 keywords and a short biographical note (max. 250 words), all in the same document.
