Call for Panelists – Rachel Carson Center Conference 2026 (“Beyond Dualism—Thinking Creatively Across Worlds”)

In an era of climate crisis and ecological anxiety, the boundaries between humans, nature, and technology are becoming increasingly blurred.
This panel—Sensing and Repair—invites researchers and practitioners to explore how art, science, and education can work together to restore our connections with the living world.

We are interested in empirical and creative case studies that demonstrate co-existence, care, and collaboration across disciplines and species.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Artistic and educational projects that reimagine human–nature relations;

  • Technological tools (AI, sensors, visual media) as participants in ecological experience;

  • Environmental education, well-being, and healing practices that build empathy and agency;

  • Cross-disciplinary collaborations between scientists, artists, and communities;

  • New ways of “sensing” and “repairing” the planet through data, design, or storytelling.

We welcome participants from any discipline or practice, including (but not limited to) art and design, education, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, environmental science, geography, psychology, communication, engineering, sustainability studies, and urban planning.
Researchers, educators, artists, and environmental practitioners are all encouraged to apply.

Please send the following materials by 30 October 2025 to stnzxxj@ucl.ac.uk

  1. A short abstract (100–150 words) of your proposed presentation or project;

  2. A short CV.

Selected participants will be included in the final panel proposal submitted to the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (LMU Munich) by 31 October 2025.
The conference will cover travel, accommodation, and meals for accepted panelists.
