Call for Papers, Post-Colonial Literature at CEA 2026

March 26-28, 2026, Charlotte, NC

Hilton Charlotte University Place

In the spirit of public proclamation and historic resolve, the College English Association announces its 55th annual conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, and our theme, DECLARATIONS. The CEA conference features papers, panels, and roundtables that address our discipline from multiple perspectives.

Submit your proposal electronically by November 1, 2025, at www.cea-web.org

The conference theme for CEA 2025 is DECLARATIONS, and, for this area, we are especially interested in presentations that incorporate topics related to DECLARATIONS in Post-Colonial Literature in texts, disciplines, people, cultural studies, media, and pedagogy.

Consider such topics as the implications of political declarations across time and place, cultural declarations of identity, declarations in the media (including social media) and how they impact society, pedagogical declarations of teaching philosophy and their implementation, or personal declarations through autobiography and memoir.

GENERAL TOPICS: As always, our CEA conference welcomes submissions on a wide range of areas, including literary studies, creative writing, rhetoric, composition, technical communication, linguistics, and film. We further encourage papers on areas that influence our work as academics, including student/instructor accountability and assessment, student advising, academic leadership in departments and programs, and the place of the English department in the university.

RETURNING FEATURE: ROUNDTABLES

A feature of the CEA Conference is the use of “Roundtable Sessions.” Each such session features presenters who deliver “flash essays.” These 500-750 word papers are designed to encourage lively discussions of the conference theme. Roundtables offer a chance for presenters to test a notion, discover other resources, or begin imagining the next steps towards developing ideas into longer, more typical conference papers or even journal articles.

Submission: August 15-November 1, 2025

Proposals should be between 250 and 500 words in length and should include a title. Please note that only one proposal may be submitted per participant. Notifications of proposal status will be sent in early December. For more information on how to submit, please see the full CFP at www.cea-web.org
