CALL FOR PAPERS AND PROPOSALS: MONTRÉAL 2026

FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE

The 2026 CSRS/SCÉR conference will be held in person at l’Université de Montréal (Montréal, Québec) from Saturday June 6, 2026, to Monday June 8, 2026. 

Proposals for papers and panels on any subject pertaining to the Renaissance are due 16 January 2026 to renprogramchair@gmail.com. We welcome proposals on any topic relevant to this period in a full range of disciplines, such as art history, bibliography, book history, cultural studies, digital humanities, history, literature, rhetoric, medicine, music, philosophy, and the sciences. Trans/Multi/Inter-disciplinary approaches are particularly welcome. Proposals can be submitted in either English or French, and should take the form of one of the following:

1. an individual paper proposal (maximum 300 words);
2. a panel of three or four proposed papers that address a defined theme (to be submitted in one file listing the names and institutional affiliations of the organizer(s), chair, and participants, the title of the session, a brief description (of 100 to 300 words) of the theme, and 300-word abstracts of each of the three or four proposed papers);
3. a roundtable discussion (to be submitted in one file including the names and institutional affiliations of the organizer(s), chair, and 4-6 speakers, the title of the session, and a 300-word paragraph outlining the focus and goals of the session); or
4. a workshop, naming the leaders and describing the goals and the methods to be employed (maximum 300 words).

By 16 January 2026, please submit your proposal(s) together with a brief (100-word) bio for each participant indicating the presenter or speaker’s name, e-mail, institutional affiliation, position (graduate student, faculty member, independent scholar, etc.), and full contact information to the Program Chair (Dr. Mark Beatrice Kaethler) at renprogramchair@gmail.com.

Acceptances of successful submissions will be sent out by early February 2026.

COLLOQUE DU CINQUANTIÈME ANNIVERSAIRE

Le colloque 2026 de la SCÉR/CSRS se tiendra en personne à l’Université de Montréal (Montréal, QC) du samedi 6 juin 2026 au lundi 8 juin 2026.

Les propositions de communication et de séance portant sur tout sujet relatif à la Renaissance doivent être envoyées avant le 16 janvier 2026 à l’adresse renprogramchair@gmail.com. Nous invitons les propositions portant sur tout aspect relevant de cette période et menées dans un large éventail de disciplines, telles que l’histoire de l’art, la bibliographie, l’histoire du livre, les études culturelles, les humanités numériques, l’histoire, la littérature, la rhétorique, la médecine, la musique, la philosophie et les sciences. Les approches trans/multi/interdisciplinaires sont particulièrement bienvenues. Les propositions peuvent être soumises aussi bien en anglais qu’en français et doivent prendre l’une des formes suivantes :

1. une proposition de communication individuelle (maximum 300 mots) ;
2. une séance de trois ou quatre communications sur un thème commun, à soumettre en un seul dossier incluant le nom des organisateurs, le nom des participants et leurs affiliations institutionnelles, le titre de la séance, une brève description du sujet (100 à 300 mots) et les propositions de communication (maximum 300 mots chacune) ;
3. une table ronde, à soumettre en un seul dossier incluant le nom des organisateurs, le nom des 4 à 6 participants et leurs affiliations institutionnelles, le titre de la table ronde, et un paragraphe de 300 mots décrivant le sujet et les objectifs de la séance ;
4. un atelier, en précisant le nom des responsables et en décrivant les objectifs et les méthodes employées pour les atteindre (maximum 300 mots).
