The Journal of Research in Contemporary World Literature (indexed in Scopus) invites original, unpublished research articles for a special issue dedicated to Contemporary African and Arabic Literature. This issue seeks contributions that explore literary production, cross-cultural encounters, postcolonial and decolonial aesthetics, migration and diaspora, oral and performance traditions, and new media literatures within African and Arabic-speaking contexts. The journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access quarterly that publishes in English.

Themes and Topics

  • Comparative Studies between African and Arabic literatures
  • Urban Imaginaries, Migration, and Diaspora in contemporary fiction and poetry
  • Postcolonial and Decolonial Narrative Strategies
  • Intersections with Film, Visual Arts, and Digital Media
  • Indigenous and Oral Traditions in contemporary forms

Submission Guidelines

  • Article Length: Research articles should be up to 8,000 words (including notes and references). Submissions must be in English.
  • Formatting: Follow the journal’s author guidelines for style, citations, and manuscript preparation available on the journal’s website. All submissions undergo an initial editorial check for conformity before peer review.
  • Peer Review: The journal employs double-blind peer review; authors must remove identifying information from their manuscripts.
  • Plagiarism and AI Use: All submissions must be accompanied by a Turnitin plagiarism report and an AI use declaration. Submissions that fail to include these will not be considered.
  • Submission Portal: Upload manuscripts through the journal’s online submission editor at the journal website.

Review Process and Timeline

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening, and suitable ones are sent to at least two expert reviewers. The average review period after submission to reviewers is approximately three months. Authors will receive reviewer reports and editorial decisions (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject) accordingly.

Key Considerations for Authors

  • Originality and Ethics: Submissions must be original, not under consideration elsewhere, and comply with academic ethics.
  • Interdisciplinarity: While the issue welcomes interdisciplinary approaches, it emphasizes rigorous literary analysis.
  • Accessibility: Provide a clear, 150–250-word abstract and 4–6 keywords; include a short author bio (50–70 words).

Potential Challenges and Recommendations

  • Conformity to Guidelines: Manuscripts that do not follow submission rules may be returned without review. Carefully check formatting and anonymization.
  • Multimedia: Submissions must not include multimedia. Only text-based content will be accepted.
